Earlier this year, U-M and Deerfield Management announced the creation of Great Lakes Discovery, a new alliance to commercialize U-M therapeutic projects that hold promise in developing potentially life-saving drugs and disease treatments.

Through Great Lakes Discovery, Deerfield has committed up to $130 million in funding to support translational research and development efforts for promising U-M therapeutic projects. Projects selected by Great Lakes Discovery will be provided funding and operational support by Deerfield for a development plan aimed at achieving Investigational New Drug (IND) readiness

The Great Lakes Discovery Fall RFP Cycle is now open, with Letters of Intent being accepted through 11:59 P.M. ET on November 30, 2020.

The Letter of Intent (LOI) submission will address the items below:

      •   Novelty
      •   Genetics
      •   Biologic Rationale
      •   Preclinical Models
      •   Clinical Development

Selected applicants will be invited to complete a more comprehensive Full Proposal application. A Joint Steering Committee aims to give quality feedback to all applicants regardless of selection status.  Great Lakes Discovery welcomes applications in all therapeutic areas.

Great Lakes Discovery will be hosting a Virtual Information Session on Wednesday, October 21st at 3:30 PM ET.  This Information Session will be led by members of the Great Lakes Discovery Joint Steering Committee and will provide an overview of the collaboration along with information on the application process and selection criteria.
