Drug Discovery Cores
Michigan Drug Discovery partners directly with several U-M research cores to advance drug discovery research. Together, MDD and these cores form the hub of the drug discovery ecosystem on campus.
U-M core labs that support drug discovery projects
High-throughput screening of extensive small molecule, natural product, and siRNA libraries for basic biology and drug discovery projects
Protein engineering and purification, macromolecular X-ray crystallography, and cryo-EM supporting drug discovery and therapeutic projects
A first-in-class library of >40,000 natural product extracts, as well as characterization and transformational tools for basic biology and drug discovery projects
Bioanalysis, lead optimization, and pre-clinical and clinical studies to advance drug development
Computational chemistry, hit triage, synthesis, lead optimization, and structure-based design for drug discovery projects
Translational infrastructure for drug repurposing, including discovery research, electronic health record mining, FDA regulatory strategy, and commercialization strategy
U-M also offers a wide variety of services, equipment, and instrumentation in core facilities across campus.
